It’s easy to underestimate the importance of good eyecare to your safety and comfort at work, as well as your overall wellbeing. By using SEE, your employer is guaranteeing you can easily access the optical support you need, in a straightforward way. All it takes is one appointment with a local optician at a time that suits you.
Once your employer has registered with SEE, they will buy the necessary safety credits or VDU vouchers on your behalf, and email the vouchers to you. Alternatively they will provide you with access to our portal to manage your own voucher.
Once you have your voucher, you can then make an appointment with a local participating optician from our network for an eye test and to choose the glasses you require. Your employer may also offer you an additional contribution to your voucher to be used for money-off frames within the opticians own collections.
Just let the optician know you have the voucher when you call to make the appointment, and remember to bring it with you!

Your employer has legal obligations to ensure you can do your job safely.
If requested, an employer needs to pay for an eye test under the Health and Safety Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992 as well as spectacles, if they are needed specifically for computer work. You qualify if you use your computer continuously for an hour or more on most working days.
Employers also need to provide appropriate safety eyecare for those working in higher-risk environments.
Health and safety legislation means employers are responsible for ensuring employees are fit to drive safely too. For example the operation of heavy goods or passenger vehicles, as well as people driving cars and motorcycles for work-related purposes.
